We woke up to a warm and sunny Saturday. As it was the first day of my week-long holiday, we decided to go to a relaxing place. We set out on a trip to somewhere I have always loved to go - Herstmonceux castle.
The castle itself was built in the 15th century and boasts a moat and luscious gardens. It is quite unique, as it is one of the first brick castles ever built. It perfectly embodies the history of medieval England and the romance of renaissance Europe. As we headed through the themed gardens, we worked our way towards the woodland trails where we enjoyed a peaceful stroll. We saw 300 year old chestnut trees, the Folly and a Secret Garden. The scent of the forest, the beautiful flowers and the sight and sound birdsong and peacocks walking by just added to the joy of the sunshine.

When we arrived, we were greeted by trees reaching for the sky and a soft, summer breeze.

These flowers were breathtaking...And they grew into large trees, shining in bright colours in the sunshine.

Through an old wooden bridge, we walked out into open fields.

There was a lovely house at the end of the field.

Walking across the field, we found a little garden. It is enclosed with beautiful trees and there are huge, wooden mushrooms you can sit on.

How about this wrought iron, circular bench?

Then suddenly, we came accross floral clouds. They were the highlight of the garden. The scent was absolutely mesmerizing; petals scattered accross the soft grass. It felt like sitting in a bathtub full of flowery foam.

Just when we thought it couldn't get any better, we saw these old trees. It felt like being inside a painting.

Come with me for a walk, dear Reader!

One of the 300 year old trees. How tiny are we compared to such a creature?

Coming to the end of our trip. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
