Following a relaxing tour of the interiors of the castle, we ventured outside to discover the grounds and the neighbouring village. Chiddingstone is a quiet little place in the lush green, rural Kent. I always knew the county was called "The Garden of England", but it never ceases to amaze me whenever I cross its borders.
First we walked past the lake to the village. With its small pub, post office, old church and little souvenir shop, it was picture-perfect. There seemed to be a wedding that day, as the church gate was decorated with flowers. Also, we found a pond as we were walking around to get back to the castle.

It is hard to resist a souvenir shop located in an old cottage. Naturally, we couldn't come away empty-handed, so we bought a plush baby deer and a mushroom. A little gift for a little one.

There was a small pier on the lake, and I had to rest for a moment after the mesmerizing tour. The reason being, I am expecting my first little one in December! This was our first trip, just the three of us: Andy, the baby and me. I cannot express my excitement enough about this joyful turn of events. We are so happy to finally start a family. It will be the time of major changes. I already can barely put on any of my vintage dresses, not that I mind. They will be set aside for a little while.

All in all, it was a most wonderful day...Every time I think back, I feel positive, and the happy memories help to keep darkness at bay. I am looking forward to each and every little moment ahead with excitement, and I wish the same to you. Until next time, then, dear Reader! Take care xxx
