Before we set off on our trip to Dubrovnik, we were not aware of what it might offer. Of course, there are things to see, we knew that, but we really only found out about the different places to visit after our arrival. Andy has just started studying photography and he always loved taking pictures, so we agreed that we need to go up above the city by cable car. That was the plan for the second day.

There was a bit of hesitation whether to see the city walls or go on the Game of Thrones tour next. However, the local conditions made it all the easier for us to decide. As beautiful as the town is, the downside of its popularity is that everything has a hefty price tag. You pay for every single thing in the town. More than that, the local restaurants fight for customers, stopping you every step of the way and forcing menus into your hand. The prices are ridiculous. We often travel to this part of the world and know about reasonable prices. Well, this time we were shocked. We walked into a Game of Thrones souvenir shop that had quite a good copy of the Iron throne, and saw tourists taking photos, sitting on it. As we were quickly told, you are only allowed to do so if you purchase something beforehand. Needless to say, the choice was poor and the prices were yet again beyond comment. All in all, this side of the visit was very disappointing. So on the third day we went to see the City Walls that are part of the UNESCO Heritage Site - King's Landing was beautifully presenting itself to us from the top.

Views from the top. You can see the walls surrounding Old Town, the rest is a newer addition to the city. The cable car goes up quickly and smoothly, only to stop just at the very top and swing a little. Stomachs sank inside; needless to say, we were all relieved to leave the cabin...

I made an attempt here for a nice pose but the wind wouldn't let me...

...and just when I thought I've got it...

...well, I really, really didn't manage to strike it at all!

Even though it was hot and quite windy, the views were spectacular all around. Here you can see the cliffs of King's Landing.

Following the exciting walk above the town, we went for a meal, then a walk in the port. The evening breeze was slow, silky soft and warm. Just perfect.

Andy caught me here, trying to hold my growing bump as I was walking down the stairs. I was a little worried because of all the steps, but it turned out no height can stop me in pursuit of new adventures.

I cheated a little, though to be honest - I had to sit down sometimes. The reason I love this photo is that this is one in which I think I look very much like my mother (only that she has black hair).

We ended the day sitting on the warm and smooth stones of the pier, feeling the salty evening breeze and planning the next day excitedly. Day two added to our repertoire of experiences and only made us curiouser and curiouser for the adventures that still lay ahead: the City Walls.

- End of part two -
