No Make-up, Curled Hair or Pretty Dresses: A Most Relaxing Island Walk

This year's holiday was comprised of three locations. Firstly, we decided to visit the bustling streets of Dubrovnik, then rest from the crowd on a beautiful island nearby. Lastly, we travelled to our hometown in the north of Serbia. Quite active, but we made sure there were stops along the way to properly rest.
Andy came across the island of Mljet in one of his searches along the coast. Loking at the first images, we immediately knew it would be the perfect place for us. The island itself is quite large, but the village we chose had only a few inhabitants. Our aparment was overlooking the bay, and I have to say there are maybe only a few nicer things than waking up in the morning and walking out to your terrace to admire the vast blue horizon, embedded with small ships. The beach was a one-minute walk, as well as the shop; everyhting was perfectly at hand.

One day, we went exploring to the other side of the island. The weather was fantastic: warm sunshine, salty sea air, the sound of cicadas in the trees, and playful, warm wind playing with your hair and clothes. The highlight of it all though (at least for me) were the fig trees along the way with ripe, delicious fruit leaning toward us. I just love fresh figs, and can never eat enough of them...
As important as quality photo-taking and blogging is, to me, the most significant part of life is to live the moment you are in. Not to juggle half an hour taking a perfect picture of something, then walk away without actually even looking around. For this reason, Andy and I often did not take the photo camera with us to our walks, as I cannot imagine a restful walk full of snapshots, walking in heels, make-up and perfect hair. Hence in the following images, you can see us just as we are, holiday people having a rest in the most comfortable way that suited us.
